History of the Archonettes of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc.

The Archonettes of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. formally known as the Zeta Archonettes, is a national youth organization sponsored by Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. This youth organization was founded in the 1950 at Zeta Phi Betas National Boule (Conference) of that year. The Zeta Archonette club is the "Sister" organization to the SIGMA BETA CLUB. These clubs were comprised of young ladies between the ages of 14 and 18 whom were matriculating in junior high and high school. The Zeta Archonette Club will sponsor projects according to the interest and needs of their various communities. These programs will develop the Zeta Archonette club member's special skills at certain times.

Among the many purposes of the Zeta Archonette Club is to encourage the individual to accept responsibility, develop new interest, work toward creating happiness for others, develop an awareness of the need to share responsibilities and to understand one another in order to achieve a common goal, develop the club members by providing them with an opportunity to make responsible decisions, to develop confidence and to relate to their peers, parents and to adults in general.

Local alumni chapters of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. sponsor each Zeta Archonette chapter. The Archonettes meet on the state, regional, and national levels when Zeta Phi Beta meets. While in this organization, Zeta Archonette club members are also trained to establish undergraduate chapters of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. on college campuses were the sorority chapters don't exist and to improve those chapters that are in existence.
